2008 Plowboy is a success

WILLOW PARK ? The 17th Annual Plowboy Shootout was a success thanks to over 180 players and the Texan Club on Friday at Squaw Creek Golf Club in Willow Park.

 

The winning group shot a 22-below par 49 to lead the 40 groups of golfers in the annual fundraising tournament for the Tarleton athletics department.

 

“We had a very successful tournament, and I want to thank everyone for coming out and supporting the 2008 Plowboy Shootout,” said Tarleton athletics director Lonn Reisman.  “We also could not have had a successful tournament without the help of over 100 hole sponsors and the Texan Club.  Every year, this tournament keeps getting better, and we appreciate everyone who has a hand in raising the money, cooking and playing.  Everyone is plays a big role in helping make our athletics department a success.”

 

The winning group was made up Dennis Fulfer, David May, Robert Burns, Randall Carpenter and Richard Pringle.  Second place was taken by Kyle Montieth, Dewayne Burns, Alan Thorpe, Leonard Montieth and Dan Malone.  The third place squad included Richard Buck, K.C. Steed and T.J. Reddington.  The winning team is pictured above with the second and third place teams pictrued below.  Each of the individuals are listed in order from left to right.

 

The “DAL” (last place) team who did not take a picture with their trophies included Matt Jones, Tommy Keith, Jason Pettit and Gerrit Schouten. 

 

The winner of the longest drive award was Stan Edgar while the winner of the closest to the pin award was B. Riley King.

 

Along with the raffles for all of the extra prizes not selected by the winning teams, the Texan Club gave away two large prizes, a 32” flat LG HDTV and a Nike Sasquatch 5,000 driver.  Kyle Montieth won the television while Bruce Roberson won the driver.

 

The Plowboy Shootout is held each year on the last Friday in June.
