Adams appointed as an assistant coach

STEPHENVILLE ? Tarleton head coach Lonn Reisman has announced Jabarr Adams as the new assistant coach for the Texan men's basketball program.

Adams, who will serve as the assistant coach behind Reisman and associate head coach Chris Reisman, comes to Tarleton from North Carolina-Pembroke.

The new assistant served the last two seasons as the graduate assistant for Pembroke after playing for the Braves.

“We are pleased to have Jabarr join the Texan coaching staff,” the elder Reisman said.  “I feel we are getting a young man that has a solid basketball background and the type of work ethic and determination it takes to work with our basketball program.  He is a man of character and will be a very solid role model for our student-athletes.  We look forward to Jabarr joining our family.”

Adams has a master's degree in sports administration after receiving a bachelor's degree in social work in December of 2006.  Prior to his playing days at UNC-Pembroke, he played at Rockingham Community College.

At Pembroke, he earned the Joe Gallagher Captain Award in 2006 and the Lacey Gane “Mr. Plus” Award in 2004.  At Rockingham CC, he was voted the Best Defensive Player of the Year.

Adams said he is looking forward to working with the Texan basketball program.

“This is a great opportunity for me to be able to come in right after graduate school and get this job,” Adams said.  “I consider this a great thing to get to work for coach Reisman, and I will learn everything I can from him.  I will be able to learn a new philosophy and get to be a part of a program that has been successful and respected.”
