STEPHENVILLE - Tarleton head track and field/cross country coach Pat Ponder has announced the addition of 34 student-athletes to the programs for the 2008-09 school year.

"This is a very strong recruiting class that will be pivotal in the success of our programs for the next several years," Ponder said. "I look for all of them to contribute, and I am excited about the class joining us for the upcoming seasons. We have a good mix of signees from local schools as well as schools from outside the area. We had some gaps to fill after losing some of our key people to graduation, and I believe this class will help us in the future."

Ponder added 20 men and 14 women freshmen to the rosters for the 2008-09 school year in which all but one are from the Lone Star state. The head coach added student-athletes from all disciplines for the track and field season, including five that will grace the 2008 cross country roster in the fall.

"This has been a very busy and productive summer," Ponder said. "We hope this recruiting class will be able to help fill the void left when a good group of seniors and leaders left at the end of last season. We are excited about this signing class and look forward to the recruits being a part of our program."
