CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. ? Tarleton's
Carla Cooper has been selected as a National Golf Coaches Association All-American for the second straight season.
Cooper, a sophomore from Arlington, was named an NGCA All-American last season as a freshman, and the Lone Star Conference Player of the Year and First-Team All-LSC honoree was selected to the First Team All-America list. She was also named to the All-West Region Team as well.
“This is a great honor for Carla,” said Tarleton head coach
Jerry Doyle. “She helped lead our team all season. If she wouldn't have gotten hurt at nationals, she would have had a real chance of claiming the individual national title. I am excited for Carla because she deserves this honor.”
Cooper won the individual title at the Super Region Four tournament while leading the team to its third straight regional championship. She has also helped the team to back-to-back Lone Star Conference championships.
The National Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches.
