Lindholm named an All-American

LIBERTY, Mo. – Tarleton's Garrett Lindholm has been named a First Team All-American by D2Football.com after a stellar season that saw him break a school record twice and an NCAA playoff record as well.

Lindholm nailed a 64-yard field goal as time expired in the first round of the NCAA Division II playoffs to send the game into overtime. The field goal was the longest ever in Division II playoff history and the second longest in Division II history.  The kick bettered his own school record of 55 yards that he set when he booted a ball through the uprights as time expired in the game against Midwestern to win the game.  Lindholm had kicked a 36-yard field goal with 12 seconds left in the contest to tie the game at 28, leading to the ensuing kickoff where the Mustangs fumbled and Tarleton recovered setting up the winning field goal.

This season, Lindholm was 15-18 in field goals including five-of-five from the 30-39 mark, two-of-two from 50-99 and five-of-eight from 40-49.  He kicked off 77 times for 4,884 yards, an average of 63.4 yards per kick.  He had 22 touchbacks.

Lindholm was named a first team member of Don Hansen's Football Gazette Super Region Four and he was a Second Team Daktronics All-American after being named to the Daktronics Super Region Four First Team.  Lindholm was also a finalist for the Mitchell Award as one of the nation's best place kickers.

The D2Football.com All-America Team was selected by the staff with input from coaches and sports information directors from around the country.  D2Football.com has named an All-American Team since its inception in 2000.
