Tarleton ranked No. 11 in final web poll

LIBERTY, Mo. – The Tarleton Texan football team has been ranked No. 11 in the final D2Football.com Top 25 Poll released this week.

The Texans, who finished the season 10-3 overall, reached the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs for the second time in the program's history.

Tarleton claimed a share of the Lone Star Conference Championship and the LSC South Division Championship after a 5-1 record in the division.

Northwest Missouri State, who won the national championship, was ranked No. 1 in the final poll while Grand Valley State, the national runner-up, was second.  Central Washington, who defeated the Texans in the second round, was ranked third. 

No. 8 Abilene Christian, No. 16 Texas A&M-Kingsville and No. 17 Midwestern State are the other LSC teams in the final poll.  Other Super Four Region members in the poll are No. No. 22 Missouri Western and No. 25 Central Missouri.

The Texans were ranked No. 10 in the final American Football Coaches Association poll released earlier.

Tarleton reached as high as No. 7 for two weeks during the season.  The Texan coaching staff is preparing for signing day which is set for February 3.
