Three named to Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-Super Four Region Teams

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Three Tarleton Texans have been named to the 2009 Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-Super Region Four Team, including Garrett Lindholm and Marcus Phillips being named to the First Team and Lonnie Buchanan being named to the Third Team.

Lindholm, a senior from Plugerville, and Phillips, a senior from Humble, will advance with the other first and second team selections to the national ballot.  The All-America team will be named later this month.  Buchanan is a junior from Greenville, Miss.

Lindholm is a repeat selection to the team after being named to the 2008 All-Super Region Four Third Team last season.

The Texans finished the season 10-3 overall and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs for just the second time in school history.  Tarleton claimed a share of the Lone Star Conference Championship and the LSC South Division Championship.

This marks the seventh year Football Gazette has selected NCAA Division II All-Region teams. The national publication, an authority on small college football, has selected NCAA Division II All-America teams since 1988.

A total of 93 players earned some form of Football Gazette All-Super Region Four honors. Players from 27 of the 34 football-playing schools in Super Region Four earned All- Region accolades.
