RICHARDSON – Tarleton's Shelby Adamson was named this week's Lone Star Conference South Division Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts on the court this past Saturday in San Angelo.

Adamson was mostly responsible in guarding Angelo State's Camille Perkins on Saturday and held the Rambelle's leading scorer to just nine points (four points from the field) on 2-of-9 shooting. The sophomore tallied four steals and three defensive rebounds and guided the TexAnns to a 69-42 win, giving Tarleton 22 wins for the first time since 1991-92 (30 wins).

This is Adamson's first weekly honor of the season and of her career. Overall, Tarleton has had four different players honored this season and has received five overall (Brittnie Haley, twice).

The TexAnns will face Texas Woman's in the first round of the LSC Championship Tournament in Bartlesville, Okla. Tip-off is set for noon on Thursday, March 4, at Bruin Field House.
