STEPHENVILLE – The Tarleton men’s track & field teams took home four first-place finishes and All-American’s Kandis Brooks, Garrett Thomas and Casey Keeter each recorded provisional times/marks at the Tarleton Relays at Oscar Frazier Track in Stephenville on Thursday.

 

Chris Haerell took first-place in the men’s 1500 meters with a time of 4:00.10 and Gerzain Valenzuela took top honors in the men’s 10,000 meters in long distance running events.

 

Thomas, a two-time All-American, placed first in the men’s 110 meter hurdles after recording a provisional time of 14.33

 

Keeter, who earned All-American honors in 2008, rounds out Tarleton’s first-place finishes after winning the shot put with a provisional mark of 16.30 meters.

 

Brooks, another two-time All-American for Tarleton, set a provisional time of 14.37 in the women’s 100 meter hurdles while finishing in third-place.

 

The women’s 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Brooks, Claire Goodman, Danitra Marshall and Courtney Newsom finished third with a time of 4:01.56.

 

Elizabeth Dominguez took home a pair of second-place finishes on the day with a throw of 41.62 meters in the women’s discus and 38.92 meters in the hammer throw. Leslie Jordan finished right behind her in third-place in the hammer throw with a time of 38.75 meters.

 

Tyler Stowell placed third in the hammer throw on the men’s side with a toss of 45.67 meters. Tyler Rushing placed third in the men’s high jump with a height of 1.98 meters and Andrew Grant rounded out Tarleton’s top-three performances with a vault of 4.45 meters in the men’s pole vault.

 

Both men’s and women’s track & field teams will return to action next Saturday, March 20, at the Baylor/Dr. Pepper Invitational at Hart-Patterson Track & Field Complex in Waco. Field events are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. with running events set to start at 12:45 p.m.
