Night of Champions set for Monday, March 8

STEPHENVILLE - The 2010 Tarleton Football Night of Champions, formerly known as the Lift-A-Thon, is scheduled for Monday, March 8 at 7 p.m. in the South Gym in Wisdom Gym.

The eighth annual event is a fund raiser and exhibition for the Texan football program.

“This event is an important fund raiser for our program, and it also showcases the talent of our football team,” said Tarleton interim head coach Cary Fowler

At the event, head strength and conditioning coach Rod Cole will explain the lifts before the football team will complete the lift. The athletes will try to "max out" in the different disciplines.

Sponsors can make two different types of donations. A sponsor can contribute in the form of a pledge or a flat donation. The pledge is based on cents per pound of total weight lifted. For example, if the athlete benches 250 lbs., squats 400 lbs. and cleans 250 lbs. for a total weight of 900 lbs. at $.05 per pound, we would collect $45 from the sponsor. A minimum pledge amount of $.03 per pound is requested with an unlimited maximum amount.

A flat donation is based on whatever the sponsor wishes to donate to the program, with a minimum of $25 and an unlimited maximum.

"We greatly appreciate everyone's pledge and support towards Texan Football," Fowler said.

Checks can be made out to Tarleton Football.
