RICHARDSON – Tarleton's Jared McNeil was named this week's Lone Star Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week according to a release from the league office on Thursday.

McNeil finished ahead of all his NCAA Division I competition in the men's 1500m at the Rice Twilight in Houston on Saturday, placing second overall with a time of 3:49.26. An unattached competitor was the only runner to defeat McNeil, coming in under a second ahead of him.

McNeil had already provisionally qualified for the national meet in the 1500m, but he bettered his time on Saturday, going from No. 23 in the nation to No. 8 overall.

Both men's and women's track & field teams will compete at the ACU/Oliver Jackson Invitational in Abilene this Saturday, May 1. Field events are set to begin at 10 a.m. with running events scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
