Koonsman joins 2010-11 TexAnn Basketball signing class

STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton head women's basketball coach Ronnie Hearne has announced the signing of Kimber Koonsman to a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the TexAnns in 2010-11.

“Kimber is an outstanding student-athlete that exceeded in multiple sports while in high school,” Hearne said. “She will be able to fully concentrate on basketball year round now and will fit in well with our up-tempo style of basketball.”

Koonsman joins the TexAnns after lettering all four years at Meridian High School where she was 14-A All-District selection all four years, while being named the district's Most Valuable Player her junior and senior seasons. She was named a Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) and Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) All-State selection as a senior and earned academic all-state honors as well.

Koonsman, a 5-8 guard, earned TABC All-Region accolades as a junior and senior, while being named to the first team all-Super Centex team her final season with the Lady Yellow Jackets.

A three-time team MVP in basketball, Koonsman also earned letters in softball, track & field and cross-country. She has been an all-district selection three times in softball and was a three-time regional qualifier in track as well. The newest TexAnn finished second overall in the 100m dash at the state meet her junior year. She was a regional qualifier in cross-country her sophomore and senior seasons.

Koonsman – who joins a signing class of Brianna Bledsoe (Guard/Stephenville), Kiara Wright (Post/Forward, Pittsburg) and Jordyn Johnson (Guard, Pflugerville) – will join Hearne and the TexAnns for workouts on campus beginning in the fall of 2010.
