STEPHENVILLE – For the first time in the TexAnn volleyball history, the team has started the season 7-0 after a 3-1 victory over Texas-Permian Basin in Stephenville at the 2010 TexAnn Invitational.
Tarleton lost the first game of the match (25-23) before taking the final three games (25-20, 25-17, 25-20) to win the contest. UTPB fell to 3-4 on the season.
Tarleton was led by Rachel Wolf with 18 kills while Irelis Ilarraza and Stacie Murrah each had 13 kills. Murrah's .333 hitting percentage led the team as the squad hit .247 in the victory.
Jessie Hartman had 31 assists to Danielle Baker's 27 while Shea McBrearty had 20 digs to lead the team. Hartman (13), Barker (12) and Wolf (10) each had double-digit digs as well.
Catherine Cutbirth led the team with five blocks as the TexAnns tallied 8.0 blocks in the game.
Alex Genung led the team with eight kills and a .333 hitting percentage as the Falcons hit just .103 in the match. Both Sara Torres and Ariel Fralick had 13 assists apiece. Keeley Brogdon recorded five service aces to lead the squad while Danae Eckart (13) and Genung (12) led the team in digs.
The Falcons recorded 11.0 blocks in the match.
