LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The No. 3 Tarleton TexAnns shot a 295 on Tuesday, but fell to third place at the Lumberjack Shootout at Wigwam in Litchfield Park, Ariz. However, senior Carla Cooper is tied for the individual title with a 141.
Host Northern Arizona shot a two-day total of 579 (287-292) to remain in first the NCAA Division I-heavy tournament that featured 11 Division I squads out of the 14 teams in the event. Indiana passed the TexAnns for second place with a 585 (296-289) while Tarleton shot a 588 (293-295). The TexAnns arethe top Division II team in the event.
Cooper is winning the individual honor after shooting a three-under-par 71 on Monday and a 70 on day two to finish two strokes better than her closest competition. Katy Ward tied for 12th with a 147 (74-73), Sharon Lau tied for 22nd with a 149 (71-78), Jacqueline Lau shot a 152 (77-75) for a tie for 31st and Sarah Fulfer shot a 155 (78-77) for a tie for 42nd.
Florida International (593), Eastern Michigan (594), Akron (598), Grand Canyon (600), Northern Colorado (603), Bradley (612), British Columbia (615), Montana (618), Weber State (628), McNeese State (636) and Portland (639) completed the field.
Tarleton will return to action for day three at the tournament on Wednesday.
