ABILENE - The Tarleton track and field team got their first national qualifier Saturday evening at the Hardin Simmons Invitational when junior Elizabeth Dominguez recorded a throw of 44.20 meters in the discus.
With the provisional-qualifying performance, Dominguez currently sits No. 9 in the nation, but head coach
Pat Ponder does not believe that Dominguez is done.
"I am very proud that she hit the mark to get on the national list, but I am expecting her to move up on the list with even more quality events coming up," said Ponder. "She is a competitor so I know she will exceed my expectations. Job well done."
Dominguez and the rest of the Texans and TexAnns will next compete at the UTA-Bobby Lane Invitational in Arlington on Saturday, April 2.
