- Tye Doty
NEW ORLEANS - Over 200 student-athletes have been recognized with all-academic status by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, and Tarleton's Tye Doty was one of them.
The freshman from Eddy led the Texan cross country squad in the NCAA regional meet in Wichita Falls last season while maintaining a 4.0 grade point average in the classroom.
"He's a 4.0 student. I really don't know if I need to say anymore," said head coach Pat Ponder. "This award just exemplifies the type of young man (The) is. He is the epitome of a student-athlete."
Doty is just one of six Lone Star Conference athletes to be honored by the USTFCCCA and will be competing for the Texans track & field team when the season begins March 8 at home in the Tarleton Invitational.
