AUSTIN – In Tarleton's first day at the Texas Relays, junior long distance runner
Lindsey Hinton set the school record for her time in the 5000m run while Jeff Smith advanced to Saturday's finals in the 400m hurdles.
Hinton overcame Nicole Sharp's 2002 mark of 17:41.09 by running a 17:25.11 Thursday night.
Smith also holds the school record in the 400m hurdles, which he set last weekend at UTA, and will run in the finals Saturday after finishing third with a time of 52.03.
Jenna Duncan also competed Thursday and ran a 1:04.59, but failed to reach the finals in a large field of competition.
