STEPHENVILLE - The reigning Lone Star Conference champion Tarleton TexAnns have announced their first post-season signing of the offseason - a 5-11 guard, Meagan O'Dell.
"Meagan is the type of player that can do anything for you on the court," said TexAnn assistant coach Misty Wilson. "She is 5-11 and has the ability to post up smaller guards, but also has outstanding ball handling and passing skills so she can be a threat from the perimeter. We are very excited to see what kind of impact Meagan will make on our team."
O'Dell was a four-year starter at Jim Ned High School where she racked up the accolades.
As a freshman, O'Dell was named All-Big Country Newcomer of the Year while also being named first-team all-district. She was also first-team all-district as a sophomore.
As a junior, she earned the first of her two District MVP awards while being named all-region, all-state (by the TABC and TGCA), first-team all-big country and second-team all-super team.
In her senior season, the high school star repeated all her junior accolades while improving to the first-team all-super team and leading her team to the state tournament, where she made the all-tournament team.
She scored 30 points in a February win at Eastland, and a remarkable effort at the state tournament that saw her score all 14 of her team's first-half points in a loss to defending champion Brock. She finished with a team-high 18.
At the state tournament, O'Dell averaged 14 points, 5.5 assists and 3.1 steals per game after shooting 40-percent from the floor and 72-percent from the free throw line during a 30-9 regular season campaign.
O'Dell joins Spearman guard Morgan Ashmore in the 2012-13 TexAnn recruiting class.
