GRANBURY – The No. 4 Tarleton women's golf team finished the first round in second place by just one stroke, trailing only St. Edward's.
The TexAnns shot a score of 296 on the day overall, just one shy of St. Edward's 296. Midwestern State was close behind with a 298, followed by Western Texas, Cameron and Western Washington, who all shot a 305.
Individually, Sharon Lau led all golfers with a 71, two strokes ahead of second place. Katy Ward and Jacqueline Lau tied for 10th with 75's, while Jessica Pickwick tied for 17th (76) and Sarah Fulfer tied for 60th (87).
The second round will get underway at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday from Harbor Lakes Golf Club in Granbury.
