STEPHENVILLE - The all-region awards continue coming for Samantha Swanda and Katie Welborn, who were recently named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association all-region first team.
Swanda was named first-team utility pitcher while Welborn was a first-team utility player.
"This is a huge honor for Samantha and Katie," said head coach Julie Mata. "This is an award voted on by the coaches within the region and shows a great deal of respect for their accomplishments on the field this season."
Two days ago, the tandem was named second-team all-region by Daktronics.
Welborn and Swanda helped lead the TexAnns to their 11th Lone Star Conference tournament appearance this season after racking up 31 wins in the regular season.
The senior tandem was named first-team all-conference while Welborn earned academic all-conference honors and Swanda was named the one of three LSC Gold Glove pitchers.
This marks the second season Swanda has earned all-region honors after being honored on the second team last season by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Welborn led the team with a .386 batting average while also factoring in 15 home runs and 44 RBIs in her senior year.
Swanda was a force at the plate and in the pitcher's circle, leading the LSC in strikeouts (182) and innings pitched (200) in the regular season. She also hit .372 with 17 homers and 51 RBIs en route to becoming Tarleton's all-time two-year career home run leader.
