Perez named second team NCBWA All-South Central Region

EMPORIA, KS. - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association named their All-Region teams for the South Central Region and recognized Tarleton junior pitcher Pete Perez with second team accolades.

Perez, a native of River City, Calif., earned first team All-Lone Star Conference and All-Tournament team honors for his efforts this season.  The junior righty recorded a 2.06 ERA and an 8-3 record while tossing seven complete games in 13 starts.  He also took part in five shutouts and had an 83-19 strikeout-to-walk ratio.  Perez held opposing hitters to a .194 average while leading Tarleton to a 30-21 record and a LSC Tournament appearance.

In the postseason, Perez had two of his best outings by tossing a pair of nine-inning, seven-strikeout performances.  The first was a 4-2 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville in the first round while the second was part of an 11-inning win over Angelo State.

As part of the third-ranked pitching staff in the LSC, Perez was second in the league in ERA, second in strikeouts, third in wins, first in shutouts and first in complete games.

Also receiving honors on the All-Region team were Kingsville's Cameron Dullnig, who was named Player of the Year, St. Mary's Carl O'Neal, who was named Pitcher of the Year, and St. Mary's Charlie Migl, who was named Coach of the Year.
