Perez picks up second All-South Central Region accolade

ABILENE - Tarleton junior pitcher Pete Perez was named all-region for the second time this season after making the second team All-South Central Region on the ABCA team.

Perez led Tarleton to a 30-21 record, a LSC Tournament Championship appearance, and was a key component to the Texans' success this season.

With an 8-3 record, the California native recorded team-highs with a 2.06 ERA, seven complete games, 83 strikeouts and five shutouts.  He was also named to the Daktronics All-Region second team and LSC All-Conference first team.

Perez joined a number of other LSC players on the team, with Angelo State's Lee Neumann taking player of the year.

The awards were voted on by South Central Region coaches and members of the ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association).

Head coach Bryan Conger talked about Perez's perfomance this season.

"Pete came in and did a great job for us this year," said Conger.  "He is a very competitive young man and deserves all the accolades that come his way.  The most impressive thing about Pete is his willingness and desire to continue to improve and get better at the things that make a complete pitcher."
