PUEBLO, Colo. – Jeff Smith wrapped up his junior season as the ninth-best runner in the nation in the 400m hurdles after finishing ninth in the finals of the 2012 Outdoor Track and National Championships at the Neta and Eddie DeRose Thunderbowl Saturday evening.
“I'm very proud of him,” said Tarleton head coach
Pat Ponder. “He left everything he had on the track. He has nothing to be ashamed of and I know he will work hard to return to nationals next year.”
Smith ran a 52.50 in his final event of the season after qualifying for the finals Thursday with a 52.03 in the preliminaries.
“I'm very motivated to get back here again next year,” added Smith.
Smith wraps up his junior season as an all-region performer and a national finalist to go along with 11 top-three finishes.
