Former Texan Wilson signs with Finland's Salon Vilpas Vikings

STEPHENVILLE - Former Tarleton standout and first team All-Lone Star Conference big man Fabian Wilson has signed a deal to play professionally overseas with the Salon Vilpas Vikings in Finland.

Wilson led the Texans to a share of the LSC title in 2011-12, which wrapped up a stellar two-year career at Tarleton.  The 6'7" forward averaged 13.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.  He played a major role in Tarleton's run at LSC Tournaments and NCAA tournaments the past two years.

Next up, Wilson will take on the competition in Finland's top league, the Korisliiga.

Associate Head Coach Chris Reisman talked about Fabian's opportunity.

“We are ecstatic for Fabian Wilson and this opportunity for him to go play for the Salon Vilpas Vikings," said Reisman.  "For Fabian to go into a first division league in Finland for his rookie season is just a great accomplishment. Fabian is our 27th guy to sign a professional contract since 2000 and he did a great job for us over the last two seasons and will be sorely missed next year.  Fabian will be an excellent ambassador in Finland and will represent Tarleton State University well. The Vikings have a great program and do an excellent job developing rookies. Fabian will leave in mid-August to begin his training with the team. Former Tarleton State Player Peter Praznovsky also played for the Vikings so this will be the second Tarleton Alum to be a part of this professional organization. We wish Fabian all the best.”
