STEPHENVILLE - With tournament action over, the Tarleton TexAnns (5-3) will turn their attention to Lone Star Conference action which is set to begin this weekend in Wisdom Gym against Midwestern State and Cameron.
Tarleton enters LSC action having won five of their first eight games this season, including three last weekend at its home tournament.
Nikki McNorton has been dominant in the middle of the TexAnn lineup through the first eight games. The reigning first-team all-conference selection leads the team with 77 kills and 44 blocks, which leads the LSC.
Katie Covell and Stacie Murrah have been dominant on the outside, each posting 74 kills through the first two tournaments.
Danielle Barker has adapted well to the starting role, posting 266 assists in her first eight matches, including 162 over the last four games. She also leads the team with 10 service aces and has recorded 56 digs.
Emily Klein leads the defensive charge with a team-high 138 digs while Covell is next with 97.
The TexAnns will welcome Midwestern State Friday night at 6 p.m. before hosting Cameron at 12 p.m. Saturday.
Midwestern comes into the tournament with a 2-6 record, led by Shelbi Stewart with 85 kills and a .310 hitting percentage as well as Kristan Aduddell and her 197 assists.
The Aggies from Cameron enter the weekend at 4-4 on the season with a Friday night matchup at Angelo State still on the schedule.
They are led by a trio of near-100 kill hitters - Rebecca Green (95), Kathryn Evans (94) and Shannon Dulaney (94) - as well as Jenna Risoli with 290 assists, which is third most in the conference.
Tarleton trails the all-time series against Midwestern State 25-22, but has won three straight against the Mustangs. The TexAnns also trail the all-time series against Cameron 25-8, but have won five straight against the Aggies dating back to 2008.
