TexAnns roll over Cameron to remain undefeated in LSC play

Tarleton bench scores 37 points, led by career-high 10 from O'Dell

Freshman Meagan O'Dell scored a career-high 10 points in eight minutes on 4-5 shooting from the floor, including 1-1 from beyond the arc, in Tarleton's 89-50 win over Cameron.
Box Score STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton entered Wednesday night's game against Cameron as the third-ranked team in the nation in field goal offense. The TexAnns did not disappoint in a 61-percent shooting effort to defeat the Aggies 89-50 at Wisdom Gym.

This is the seventh straight win for Tarleton against Cameron dating back to 2006 and the eighth win in the last nine meetings.

Tarleton got off to a quick 3-0 start with a layup and a free throw by Shanae Lowrance and Kiara Wright, respectively, before Cameron put together a 5-0 run to take – what would be – their only lead of the game at 5-3.

Wright answered right back with a layup to start an 11-2 run over the next 2:21 to put Tarleton on top 14-7. The run was capped off by a 3-pointer from Brianna Bledsoe off an assist from Karli Moore.

After Cameron pulled within five at 16-11 with 12:55 left in the half, Peyton Adamson chipped in a two-point jumper off a pass from Cheyenne Berry to begin a dominating TexAnn run that lasted over the remainder of the first half.

With 12:15 left on the clock after the Adamson jumper, Tarleton went on to outscore Cameron 30-11 over the rest of the half to go into the break leading 48-22.

The TexAnns shot 72 percent in the first half while holding the Aggies to just 29 percent from the floor. Lowrance led the team after the first 20 minutes with 10 points while Wright had nine.

In the second half, Tarleton maintained a dominant lead throughout thanks to a strong showing from the TexAnn reserve players, including a career-high effort of 10 points from Meagan O'Dell and a nine-point effort from Keyra Johnson. Tarleton's bench outscored the Aggie bench 37-8.

Tarleton extended its lead to as many as 30 in the second half and never led by less than 26 at any point in the second half.

Lowrance (16), Wright (13), Adamson (10) and O'Dell (10) all cracked double figures for the TexAnns, who shot at more than twice the percentage (.611) than Cameron (.300) on the night.

Tarleton will return to action Saturday with a LSC game at D.L. Ligon Coliseum in Wichita Falls against Midwestern State at 4 p.m.
