Jimenez-Perea among national list of 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year nominees

STEPHENVILLE – The reigning PING WGCA National Division II Player of the Year in women's golf is up for yet another national award as Isabel Jimenez-Perea has been named a nominee for the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year award.

Jimenez-Perea adds this nomination to an incredible list of accomplishments during her senior campaign and illustrious career. She was recently named the PING Women's Golf Coaches Association Division II Player of the Year – the first player in Tarleton and LSC history to win the award – as well as the LSC Female Athlete of the year.

She became the first player in Lone Star Conference history to earn four LSC Player of the Year awards and ended the season as the No. 1-ranked golfer in the nation by GolfStat.com.

The Madrid, Spain native finished third at the 2016 NCAA Division II National Championship tournament, which is the highest individual finish in Tarleton history. Jimenez-Perea finished in the top 10 in 11 of the 12 tournaments this season and helped the TexAnns win seven tournaments. She led Tarleton to its record ninth LSC championship and ninth regional title in 10 years as the senior won the individual title at the West Regional Tournament for the second time.

The four-time All-American earned LSC All-Academic team recognition her senior year and received first-team All-LSC honors all four years. Jimenez-Perea was also named to the WGCA All-Region team for the fourth time.  She was a nine-time LSC Golfer of the Week in her career and won 12 tournaments in her four years, including three her senior year.

ABOUT THE WOMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD
The NCAA Woman of the Year award honors graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in academics, athletics, service and leadership.

This pool of school honorees marks the largest in the 26-year history of the award. Click here to see the complete list of nominees.

Next, conferences assess their member school nominees and select up to two conference nominees. The Woman of the Year selection committee, made up of representatives from the NCAA membership, will then choose the top 30 honorees - 10 from each division.

From the top 30, the selection committee determines the top three honorees from each division and announces the nine finalists in September. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics then chooses from among those nine to determine the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year.

The top 30 honorees will be celebrated and the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year winner will be announced at the annual award ceremony Oct. 16 in Indianapolis.
