The No. 9-ranked Tarleton State (11-0, 0-0 LSC) opens Lone Star Conference play against Angelo State (10-2, 0-0 LSC) on Wednesday at 8 p.m. inside Wisdom Gym in Stephenville. The Texans, who are opening LSC play at home for the first time since since the 2011-12 season, extended its best start to a season with a 79-68 win over South Dakota Mines on Saturday, while the Rams are coming off a 75-70 exhibition win over Texas-El Paso.

Series Information
Wednesday's contest marks the 66th meeting between the two squads, with Angelo State leading the all-time series 35-30. However, the Texans are 26-11 against the Rams in the
Lonn Reisman era, which includes a 15-2 mark inside Wisdom Gym.

The two teams split last season's regular-season series with each home team coming away with a win. Tarleton dropped its LSC and road opener to the Rams last season, 57-52, before coming back to Stephenville to down the Rams 67-44 a few months later.

Tarleton has won five out of the last six meetings and the Rams have not won in Stephenville since a 69-68 victory over the Texans on Feb. 8, 2001.

Last Time out for Texans
By all accounts, Tarleton may have played its poorest game of the season this past Saturday, but the then No. 9-ranked Texans still came away with an 11-point win over South Dakota Mines. In the first-ever meeting between the two squads, Tarleton shot 51.0 percent from the field and downed the Hardrockers 79-68.

Chuck Guy led the Texans with 19 points and was 10-for-10 from the charity stripe.
De'Andre Upchurch followed with 15 points and
Tashawn Mabry poured in 12 points off the bench.

Scouting the Rams
The Rams are coming off a 75--70 exhibition win over Texas-El Paso on Saturday, but prior to that game ASU had dropped two straight games after opening the season 10-0. ASU, who was ranked as high as No. 22 in the NABC Poll, fell 90-81 to Arkansas-Monticello and 74-64 to Arkansas Tech before the team broke for the holidays.

Angelo State is averaging 77.7 points per game, which ranks fourth in the LSC, and are allowing opponents to score 69.0 points per contest, which also ranks fourth in the league. The Rams are seventh in the LSC with a 63.5 free throw percentage, but rank first with a 51.1Â field goal percentage.

Kenny Williams leads the Rams in a variety of statistical categories that includes scoring (17.8 ppg), rebounds (8.2), blocks (12) and steals (17). Daniel Skinner is the only other Ram player to average double digits with an 11.5 points per game average.

Texans in the NABC Poll
The Texans moved up two spots to No. 9 in last week's NABC Top-25 Poll. The Texans entered among the top-10 teams in the nation for the first time since finishing the 2011-12 season ranked No. 9 back on Mar. 6, 2012.

The Texans have been ranked inside the NABC Top-25 for 74 different weeks since making its first-ever appearance in the poll back on Dec. 17, 2002. Including this week, Tarleton has had a top-15 ranking in 58 different weeks and a top-10 ranking in 42 different weeks.

Reisman's Hunt for 550
Head coach
Lonn Reisman now has 541 career wins heading into this week's contests. Reisman, who is in his 26th season with the Texans, now needs just nine more victories to earn his 550th career win. He would become just the 26th overall and ninth active NCAA Division II head coach to earn 550 wins. He would be the 83rd coach at both the D-1 and D-II levels to achieve the feat.

Reisman picked up victory No. 500 back on Jan. 21, 2012 when Tarleton defeated A&M-Commerce 78-53 in Stephenville.

The Texans are on a current 16-game home winning streak that dates back to Jan. 2, 2013. The 16-game home win streak is now the fourth longest streak in school history.

It marks the first time a Texan team has eclipsed the 100-point barrier in three games since the 1997-98 season.

Guy Remains Sharp at Free Throw Line
Senior guard
Chuck Guy heads into Wednesday's game having converted 93.2 percent of his attempts from the charity stripe, which ranks first in the LSC and sixth in the nation. Guy, who is 69-of-74 from the free throw line this season, has made 30 consecutive free throws dating back to the Central Washington game back on Dec. 21.

The Texans will play its first official "road" game of the season this Saturday, Jan. 11, as the team travels to Kingsville to take on the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas. Tip-off between the Texans and Javelinas is set for 3 p.m. at the Steinke Center- Hampton Inn Court.
